Palo Alto Networks to Host Work for Warriors Event with Congressman Mike Honda

August 11, 2015

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Palo Alto Networks® (NYSE: PANW), the next-generation security company, will host a Work for Warriors event at its headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif., on August 13 at 6:00 p.m. to connect Silicon Valley tech firms with the California National Guard's Work for Warriors program participants.

Work for Warriors leverages an executive headhunting model to connect California's unemployed and underemployed guardsmen, reservists and veterans with career opportunities across the state.  Since the program's inception in 2012, the organization has placed more than 4,000 service members and veterans with employers in California.

In attendance will be Palo Alto Networks CEO Mark McLaughlin, the California National Guard's Deputy Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Matthew P. Beevers, more than a dozen Silicon Valley companies and Congressman Mike Honda, who will be recognized at the event for his recent induction into the Work for Warriors Caucus and spearheading measures promoting veterans' employment and education.

QUOTES:

  • "Events like this are critical to getting our guardsmen, reservists and veterans hired in California's leading industries.  To effect real change and provide opportunities for America's veterans, it has to be a community effort.  Congressman Honda and Palo Alto Networks have been, and will continue to be, great allies in this endeavor."
-- Maj. Gen. Matthew P. Beevers, the California National Guard's Deputy Adjutant General
  • "We ask our brave men and women in uniform to put their lives on the line when our country calls.  We are honored to support efforts like Work for Warriors that can help match these men and women with jobs fitting of the excellent skills and training that they have accumulated in their armed forces careers.  I applaud Congressman Honda's work on this important issue and look forward to teaming on this effort for years to come."
-- Mark McLaughlin, President and CEO of Palo Alto Networks
  • "Our veterans have served this nation bravely and developed very high-level skills. Often, it can be difficult for veterans to translate their experiences to the civilian workplace.  With the sharp increase in our military engagements over the last 10 years, we have veterans coming home that we need to help successfully transition to civilian life.  Events like this one help our cause, which is to make sure these men and women find good-paying jobs here in Silicon Valley."
    -- Congressman Mike Honda
